Family Theatre Project at Theatro Technis : Update 1
Theatro Technis in Camden are currently running a Family Theatre Project in which local families get involved in the production and delivery of a short play through participating in workshops to develop the skills of participants and to promote family values.

The project started on 25 October and the production will take place on 22 November. There are 12 families involved in the project, 18 children and 14 adults.
I’m Laura and I’ll be keeping you update on our progress. During our first meeting we presented the project, handed out the schedule and began to talk about the type of play they want to perform. The families expressed an interest in creating their own play using ideas taken from the Russian folk tale Baba Yaga, the plan is to adapt the story and give it a more contemporary feel.
Below is a current summary of the play, however, it’s a work in progress and so might change as we continue to develop it further:
A little boy is lost in Camden market because of an adults lack of care, the lost boy’s sister begins to search for him around the different shops which will all come to life (as well as the statues and houses we hope) and will function as the shows narrators. We’re then hoping to involve the Evila character from Baba Yaga as wolf or Mr Night.
We’re beginning by exploring the play through improvisation work and during the first meeting the families split off into groups to work on different aspects of production such as set, lighting, marketing and costumes. Last Sunday we then began working with a designer to draw sketches for the set and design some of the props.
There’s already some great stuff coming out and we’re all really excited about watching the production grow over the next few weeks.
